Lake Hartwell is one of the southeast's largest and most popular public recreation lakes. It is a man made lake, built by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers between 1955 and 1963. Lake Hartwell offers 9 campgrounds and a total of 524 campsites. In addition, it offers Fishing (fish include Largemouth Bass, Bream, Trout & Walleye), Swimming, Boating & Watersports.
